" If Senator Kerry has a good final weekend and the Democratic ground game is very effective, the Senator could win a narrow victory (possibly even winning the Electoral College without winning the popular vote).

At the other extreme, if President Bush has a good final weekend and the GOP ground game is very effective, he could win a fairly comfortable victory (4-5 points in the popular vote, 330+ Electoral Votes).

The final possibility is that the numbers stay right where they are and the President is narrowly re-elected. In that case, all eyes will be on Ohio."

Volunteer Opportunities:1. Poll Watchers Training - Our last training session will be Thur at 7pm at the Northshore office.2. Our last neighborhood canvass will be Saturday, Oct. 30 @ Mt. Olive Church on the corner of Dandridge & Martin Luther King. Today (Wed., Oct.27) the Sentinel ran an article stating that the republicans are expecting 400-500 canvassers for their last push. Of course, they are paying those volunteers $50. We have confirmation from the local media that they WILL BE COVERING BOTH CANVASS EVENTS. We need to have a BIG BIG crowd to show that we have the heart to get out and work for our candidate because we believe in the KERRY/EDWARDS team WITHOUT being paid!!!!!! WE ARE THE REAL DEAL!!!!! For more info, email ljean172002@yahoo.com.3. Visibility for Kerry - Saturday (10/30) we need folks to hold signs for Kerry at busy intersections.Meet at the Northshore office at 10:30am. We'll also do sign holding at the Magnolia Ave Office at 2:30pm.4. Sign distribution, Sunday 5pm - 5:30pm - Kerry/Edwards sign deployment - We need 20 folks to put signs up around the county. The office will be opening at 3pm w/ a cookout and special phone banking.

1. Veterans for Kerry Press Conference and Phone banking - On Friday, 5pm we need all our Veterans to meet at the Magnolia Ave office for a short press conference, then the veterans will be phone banking for Kerry Edwards. All Veterans are asked to wear your hats, medal, etc. David Keith will be the among the speakers.

2. Women for Kerry GOTV Event - Friday (10/29), 7pm at the Black Box Theater in Homberg Square in Beardon. A short one act play written by Al Franken will be performed. Limited Seating, please RSVP at 583.0855.

3. Runners for Kerry - Continue every Saturday at 9 am at Lakeshore Park.

4. Mom's for Kerry Rally - On Saturday 10/30, 3 pm at Lakeshore park will be a rally of Mom's for Kerry.Bring you whole family and kids in costumes are encouraged. www.momsforkerry.com

5. Sundae in the Park in Fountain City - Sunday, 10/31, 2pm - Bring the kid's before they trick or treat for a fun rally for Kerry/Edwards. (584.9050). Broadway @ Hotel.

6. Kerry Victory Party - November 2nd - 8pm at the Holiday Inn Select on World's Fair Park!!

Knoxville Police caught a man who was stealing Kerry Yard signs. He had 78 signs when he was caught. Take your signs in on Sat and Sun night as Halloween is here and signs will get stolen or vandalized. In a separate case, last Saturday night a member of the Healthcare workers for Kerry had her sign burned in her front yard. Channel 6 covered the incident.

GOOD NEWS- For the first time in Knox County history, the largest block of "early voters" consists of "newly registered voters" instead of "senior voters". This is a direct reflection of our aggressive voter registration & phone banking initiatives. We will be phone banking from 11:00a.m.-8:00p.m. at both the Northshore office and the Magnolia office every day except Sunday until Tuesday evening. PHONE BANKING IS OUR FOCUS AND EARLY STATISTICS INDICATE THAT IT IS WORKING!!!!! If you have any time at all between now and 7:30p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 2, please come by and help us make calls.

"Thursday October 07, 2004--If the Congressional elections were held today, forty-six percent (46%) of Likely Voters say they would vote for a Democrat while 40% say they would vote for a Republican.

For most of 2004, the Democrats' advantage on this question has been in the 4 to 7 point range. During September, however, the Democrats' lead has been smaller. With the exception of a few days, the Democrats have been ahead by 1-4 points in September."

Great Debate last night Sen. Edwards. According to a poll from CBS News: "CBS News' poll specifically focused on uncommitted voters and found 41 percent deemed Edwards the winner, 28 percent chose Cheney, and 31 percent said it was a tie. CBS based its poll on a 'nationally representative sample of 178 debate watchers ... who are either undecided about who to vote for or who have a preference but say they could still change their minds.'" -CNN.com

ACCORDING TO CNN.. "The poll showed Kerry and Bush tied at 49 percent each among likely voters interviewed. Among registered voters Bush had 49 percent and Kerry 47 percent. Independent candidate Ralph Nader was favored by 1 percent in each group..." THE ARTICLE GOES ON TO SAY THAT, "It's obvious that the debate helped Kerry. What's less obvious is how," CNN polling director Keating Holland said.

"Other polls conducted after the debate also showed Kerry in a virtual tie with Bush. (Polls: Kerry won debate) On the issue of the economy, the poll showed all voters favoring Kerry 51 percent to Bush's 44 percent, almost exactly the opposite of what the September 24-26 poll indicated -- Bush with 51 percent and Kerry with 45 percent. "

We want Tennessee to be a blue state, this is what Tennesseansforkerry.com has to say about some of those polls...

"Since July 12, the Wall St. Journal/Zogby poll has had Sen. Kerry within the margin of error in a matchup against George Bush in TN. There has been only one exception - the Sept. 7 poll immediately after the GOP convention.
We should add that Zogby's numbers in 1996 and 2000 were the closest to actual Election Day results than any other major polling firm."
